The GTM Plays folk integration adds every lead your LinkedIn agents find to folk as a person, in the group you choose, with name, title, email, phone, LinkedIn URL, location, company and a note on why the lead matters. It connects with a folk API key and sends data one way, from GTM Plays to folk.
What the integration does
folk describes itself as an AI CRM for your entire sales motion (folk.app, checked October 2026). GTM Plays finds people on LinkedIn who show buying signals, scores their fit and runs the outreach. This integration keeps folk filled with those people, grouped the way your team works. See every connection on integrations.
What syncs
Data flows one way, from GTM Plays to folk. GTM Plays reads only your list of groups, so you can choose one.
| GTM Plays field | folk person field |
|---|---|
| First, last and full name | firstName, lastName, fullName |
| Job title | jobTitle |
| Headline, signal, GTM Plays score and reasons, LinkedIn URL | description |
| Work email | emails |
| Phone | phones |
| LinkedIn profile URL | urls |
| Location | addresses |
| Company name | companies |
| Group you picked | groups |
Group. After you verify your key, a Group menu lists your folk groups. It is optional, but people added without a group only appear in folk's search, so most teams pick one, for example "LinkedIn signals".
Duplicates. GTM Plays does not search folk before adding a person. Each request carries a stable idempotency key built from the contact and the group, so a retry within folk's 24-hour idempotency window does not add the same person twice. Merging with people already in folk is left to folk.
When leads are sent
- New leads, automatically. With "Automatically send new contacts" on (the default), each new lead your agents find, or that you import into an agent, is sent as it arrives.
- One contact at a time. From any contact's drawer, choose Send to… and pick folk.
Leads are sent in batches through folk's API, in the background, so your agents never wait on it. The folk card in Settings → Integrations shows the time, status and any error of the last delivery.
How to set it up
- Create an API key in folk. Open Settings → API and generate a new key.
- Open GTM Plays. Go to Settings → Integrations → folk.
- Paste the key and press Verify. GTM Plays confirms the key and loads your groups.
- Choose a group (recommended) and keep automatic sending on.
- Save and press Check connection. The check does not add a test person.
Use cases
- Relationship-led selling. folk suits founders and small teams who sell through relationships; GTM Plays adds the people worth a conversation, with context.
- Agencies and consultancies. Keep one group per client campaign. See how agencies and consultancies use signals.
- Warm follow-up. The description carries the signal, so your follow-up can reference what the person actually did. Read more on warm outreach.
- Light CRM for outbound. Teams that do not want a heavy CRM still get every LinkedIn lead in one place.
Good to know
- GTM Plays adds people only; it does not create companies as separate records, deals or reminders.
- Replies are not written to folk. Use Slack or a webhook for reply alerts.
- GTM Plays does not book meetings by itself; it finds, scores and messages people on LinkedIn.
Troubleshooting
The integration card in Settings → Integrations shows the last delivery and the error message, if any. The common ones:
- "The key was rejected (401)". The key was revoked, expired or mistyped. Paste a new one and press Verify.
- "The key is missing a permission this needs (403)". Give the key the access listed in the setup steps, then verify again.
- Rate limiting (429). The service asked GTM Plays to slow down. The current delivery stops and the message shows on the card; later leads go out with the next delivery.
- "The service redirected the request". Usually the wrong account region or URL. GTM Plays never follows redirects with your key attached.
- People not visible in folk. If no group was chosen, search for them by name, or pick a group so new people land in it.
Security and data handling
- Your folk API key is encrypted (AES-256-GCM) before it is stored, used only on GTM Plays' servers, never sent back to your browser and never logged. Settings show only its last four characters.
- Empty fields are left out of every request rather than sent as blanks, so GTM Plays never overwrites something you typed in folk with an empty value.
- You can disconnect at any time from Settings → Integrations. Records already created in folk stay there.

Frequently asked questions
What does GTM Plays add to folk?
People, with name, job title, email, phone, LinkedIn URL, location, company and a description holding the signal and score.
Do I have to choose a group?
No, but people without a group only appear in folk search, so picking a group is recommended.
Will it create duplicates?
GTM Plays does not search folk first. A stable idempotency key prevents a retried request from adding the same person twice within 24 hours.
Is the sync two way?
No. Data goes from GTM Plays to folk only.
