GTM Plays + Slack integration
Get a Slack message when GTM Plays finds new LinkedIn leads, updates them or someone replies, via an incoming webhook. What it posts, setup and FAQs.

The GTM Plays Slack integration posts a message in the Slack channel you choose when your LinkedIn agents find new leads, when leads are updated, or when someone replies. Each message names up to five people with their title, company and score. It connects with a Slack incoming webhook URL, so there is nothing to install inside GTM Plays.
What the integration does
Slack describes itself as an AI work platform for managing projects, automating workflows and connecting teams (slack.com, checked October 2026). GTM Plays finds people on LinkedIn who show buying signals, scores them and runs the outreach. The Slack integration tells your team the moment something worth acting on happens. See every connection on integrations.
What it posts
Data flows one way, from GTM Plays to Slack. GTM Plays sends one message per event, for example:
- New leads: "🎯 12 new leads for Fintech CFOs", followed by up to five lines such as "• Name - Head of Finance at Company · score 86" and "…and 7 more".
- Replies: "💬 1 person replied to Fintech CFOs", with the person's name, title and company.
- Updates: "3 leads updated on Fintech CFOs", with the same short list.
Messages carry names, titles, companies and scores only. Emails, phone numbers and reply text are not posted to Slack.
Choose what to send
When you connect, you tick the events this connection receives. You can pick any mix:
| Event | Label in settings | When it fires |
|---|---|---|
contact.created |
New leads | An agent finds someone new, or you import contacts into an agent |
contact.updated |
Lead updates | Approvals, outreach steps, enriched emails and stage changes, or when you use Send to… on a contact |
contact.replied |
Replies | A lead answers your LinkedIn message |
Deliveries run in the background after the action that caused them, never follow redirects, and time out after 8 seconds. The card in Settings → Integrations shows the time, status and any error of the last delivery.
What Slack receives
Each request is a plain JSON body with a single text field, which is the format Slack's incoming webhooks expect. It also carries x-gtmplays-event and x-gtmplays-delivery-id headers. Your GTM Plays account ID is sent only to your own generic webhook endpoints, never to Slack. Requests go only to addresses that resolve to public hosts, and GTM Plays will not follow a redirect.
How to set it up
- Create an incoming webhook in Slack. Slack's own guide: create a Slack app, open Incoming Webhooks, switch on Activate Incoming Webhooks, choose Add New Webhook to Workspace, pick the channel and authorise. Slack then shows a URL starting
https://hooks.slack.com/services/(Slack docs). GTM Plays' in-app help gives the same short version: Apps → Incoming Webhooks → Add to a channel. - Open GTM Plays. Go to Settings → Integrations → Slack and paste the URL. GTM Plays only accepts
hooks.slack.comaddresses. - Tick the events you want: new leads, lead updates, replies, or all three.
- Save and press Send test. A sample message about "Test Contact (GTM Plays)" lands in the channel so you can see the format.
Slack notes that a webhook URL contains a secret and should never be shared publicly. If one leaks, create a new webhook and paste it into GTM Plays.
Use cases
- Reply alerts. Send only Replies to a sales channel so someone responds while the conversation is warm. GTM Plays does not book meetings by itself; the alert helps your team move fast.
- Daily pulse for founders. Send New leads to a private channel to see what your agents found without logging in. Useful for founder-led sales.
- Team visibility. Agencies can use one channel per client agent so account managers see progress.
- Signal awareness. Scores in each line help the team spot the strongest buying signals at a glance.
Good to know
- Slack is notifications only; it does not create records anywhere.
- Each event is a single message, however many leads it covers, so channels stay readable.
- Need messages in more than one channel, or a custom format? Route events through the Zapier integration and build the Slack step there.
Troubleshooting
- "Use a Slack incoming-webhook URL". The URL must start with
https://hooks.slack.com/. - "Responded 404" or "Responded 403". The webhook was removed or the app uninstalled in Slack. Create a new webhook and paste it in.
- "The URL redirected". Paste the final URL Slack gave you; GTM Plays never follows redirects.
- No message after a test. Check you are looking in the channel you picked when creating the webhook.
Plans and next steps
