Fill in the fields to build a one-page ICP your whole team can use: who to target, the problems you solve for them, the signals that mean now is a good time, and who to leave alone.

What a good ICP includes
An ideal customer profile describes the companies and people most likely to buy, succeed and stay. The template covers the parts that matter for prospecting:
- Firmographics: industry, company size and region. These decide which companies are in scope.
- Buyers: the titles that sign and the titles that feel the pain. They are often different people.
- Problems: in the words buyers use, so your messages sound like them.
- Buying signals: the events that make a company more likely to buy right now, such as a funding round, a new leader, a hiring push or a tool switch. See the buying signals guide.
- Tech: tools that suggest fit or make your product easier to adopt.
- Disqualifiers: who not to contact. This saves more time than any other field.
How to fill it in
- Start from your best customers. List the five to ten accounts that bought fastest and got the most value. Look for what they share.
- Write the problems in their words. Use phrases from sales calls and support tickets, not your marketing copy.
- Be specific about signals. "Growing" is not a signal; "hired three SDRs in the last 60 days" is.
- Add disqualifiers last and be strict. A short list of good-fit prospects beats a long list of maybes.
Turning the ICP into pipeline
An ICP only pays off when it shapes who you contact. Use it to score prospects before outreach (see lead scoring) and to decide which signals to watch. GTM Plays builds a draft ICP from your website, lets you edit it, and scores every prospect against it before writing a message. Start a 7-day free trial or read the B2B lead generation guide.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an ICP and a buyer persona?
An ICP describes the ideal company: industry, size, region, tech and situation. A buyer persona describes a person inside that company: their role, goals and objections. You need both, and the persona sits inside the ICP.
How many ICPs should a B2B company have?
Start with one. Add a second only when a segment buys for clearly different reasons or needs different messaging.
How often should I update my ICP?
Review it every quarter, and whenever your win rate changes noticeably by segment. Your best recent customers are the evidence.
Is my ICP saved anywhere?
No. The template runs in your browser. Copy or download the result to keep it.
